Today's theme is gastronomical. Nothing difficult, but as a warning: this is a true hungarian-style, manly food, one that makes your taste buds cry in joy and your kidneys scream in terror. So, today's protagonist is:

Sirloin Steak with Fried Onions
With Spicy Potatoes as side dish

Ingredients (without numbers, everyone makes as much as they want):
  • Meat! Official recipes states beef sirloin, but if you don't have some nearby (guess who am I pointing at) cheating is allowed. In this case, the victim is pork leg.
  • Potato
  • Onion
  • Flour
  • Salt, pepper, grill spices (according to taste)
  • Mustard
  • Cooking oil
Directions (not copied from another recipe, this is how I done it):

If the meat was frozen, take it ot for thawing the night before! Microwave thawing partially cook the meat, and while it is okay with some food, not with the steak, that must be drown and tortured first, so it's not a good choice.
Wake up early! Slice up the meat, and tenderize it with a hammer (if you put the slice into a nylon bag beforehand, you'll have less cleaning job to do). Make some cuts on the edges, then rub them with salt and a bit of pepper. If finished, smear the slices with mustard, then put them into a bowl, and water them with cooking oil. Close it with foil or the lid (cleaning considerations again) then put it into the fridge.
Cut the onions into rings or half-rings, and salt them in a bowl. close it with foil.
Wash the potatoes, but don't peel them. Cook them in salty water with its peel on, then let them cool a bit. After that, peel them and cut them to wedges.
Let the meat stay in the brine for about an hour or two. Watch a series or something. :)
Since not everyone has grill plate at home, get a pan and use it to grill the meat. Raw or well done, it's up to your taste. If you think they darkening too fast, don't worry - it's just the mustard.
While you're doing this, fry the potatoes in oil (or butter, fat, or whatever you're using for that), until their outside is crispy. Sprinkle them with grill spices according your own taste.
Flour the onions then fry them until they're golden.

If everything is ready, serve it. Shovel the onions on top of the meat, and the potatoes on the side. The results would look like this:

You should serve it with pickles. Like this:

And together:

I hope the pictures shows how good it turned out! Onwards with knife and spoon! Have a good meal!
